Hello Jack,

Sorry for the late reply due to summer vacation.
Hmmm.. I wouldn’t recommend Slate ONLY for it’s Rendering capability, since that rendering capability goes hand-in-hand with a Slate created cutscene. What I mean by that, is that while Slate is possible to render to file (PNG, EXR) a whole cutscene (both in editor or in runtime), the cameras from within the cutscene is rendered, are the cameras that are explicitly set-up and sequenced as “Shots” in the Camera Track of the cutscene, instead of all cameras at once.
Shots

Any “normal” camera can be turned and used as a Slate cutscene Shot Camera with ease, but still those Shot Camera will have to be sequenced into a cutscene before the rendering utility considers those cameras for rendering through them.

Thus, yes. The Slate rendering utility is able to render to file, both in editor or even while the game is running, but no, it is not possible to render “any” chosen camera at will, unless that camera is part of the cutscene being rendered currently.

If you have any more questions or need any further clarifications, please do let me know.
Thank you!
