    I’m using this plugin to make 2D cartoons for youtube.
    I have 2 annoyances.

    1)
    I set game view resolution from “Free Aspect” -> 1920×1080, so i can render final cutscene in SLATE to 1920×1080 for youtube.
    problem: Camera Shot preview is ONLY “Free Aspect”, please add custom resolution setting.
    Right now it’s annoying to preview camera shot because “Free Aspect” preview shows empty space on the sides so i can’t use that feature to confirm correct camera shot values.

    2)
    Right now when creating new camera shot it uses SCENE CAMERA VIEW to set shot camera values.
    problem: I’m making game in ORTHOGRAPHIC view and when i create new shot camera i get wrong “orthographic size”, and i can’t guess correct scene camera placement because there’s no values to see.
    Please add ability to create new Shot Camera using values of “Main Camera” in scene which i have set correct values for “orthographic size” and position.

    Hey,

    Glad to hear you are using Slate for a 2D cartoon 🙂
    Regarding your requests:

    1) Are you referring to the camera shot thumbnails in the Camera Track as well as the preview in the Camera Shot Inspector? If so, is your suggestion that they respect the aspect ration of the resolution chosen in the Game tab?

    2) Alright, I will make it so that when creating orthographic camera shots the orthographic size is taken from the MainCamera in the scene if any 🙂

    1)I didn’t think of the thumbnails but yea that’d be even better. The thumbnails and camera shot preview should be the same resolution as the game view. Otherwise i can’t see what exactly cutscene will look like unless i play it.

    2) yea thanks, if possible can you also have option for transform position taken from MainCamera as well?

    1) Yes, I will take a look at this.

    2) Sure, I will add an option in the preferences to select where the new Shot Cameras are created.

    Heyo Gavalakis!

    Awesome asset! Wondered how you can create an orthographic camera using the features you mentioned in this thread? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I want the Camera Shot to be able to see a UI Canvas in orthographic mode.

    Hello,

    Thanks a lot! I am glad you like Slate 🙂
    If in the Scene Unity tab, the “2D” mode is active, then all newly created Shot cameras will automatically be set in Orthographic mode as well.
    You can of course always just select the existing Shot Cameras you want in the scene hierarchy (by default found under your cutscene gameobject), and set them to Orthographic mode in their Camera inspector.
    Last but not least, also make sure that your Render Camera (found under Director Camera Root gameobject) is also set to Orthographic mode, since that is the camera from within the cutscenes are actually rendered from.

    Please let me know if that helps (or maybe I misunderstood the question).
