I made an cinematic that uses translation and animation tracks. Basically a character running and jumping and climbing around a small scene. Maybe 3-4 hours work…not super complex…but more than a tutorial.
Everything was fine. Rebooted, reloaded the project…now the character moves around based on the root motion, etc…but doesn’t animate. It’s the classic pose that a character does when their animator (Unity component) isn’t animating for whatever reason. So the character is still doing everything in the cinematic, but the body itself is frozen in that pose.
I’ve spent hours trying to figure out what setting got messed up. I started to remake a piece of it using a new group…my goal was to figure out which side of things was broken. Something about my character? Something about the cutscene? I re-built the initial few seconds, using the same character, even the same instance of it (I disabled the original group). It works. Ok, so now I know it’s not the character.
Next I need to start comparing every piece of data that is exposed to me in this cutscene package. What differences are there in the original group and track from the new one? Obviously there is something different, but nothing that I can see. Btw, while doing this I’m noticing that I don’t know where the data is being stored…that’s scary.
Finally…I had a hunch…I deleted all the new stuff…went back to the original group…duplicated it. Works now. But…also scary 🙁
Hello there,
I am sorry to hear that you’ve encountered such an issue. I honestly can’t think out of my head what could be gone wrong here, but would it be possible for you to send me the project so that I can check it out and find this out? If so that would be awesome 🙂
If you decide to do so please send to support_AT_paradoxnotion.com.
Thank you!
